When you think of the State of Delaware, water doesn’t naturally come to the top of mind. Delaware can lay claim to having twice as many chickens as people and keeping license plates as family heirlooms, but water isn’t typically the first thing people think of – though it should be. When the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed started their legislative advocacy efforts in “The First State” earlier this year, that was the number one request: remember to vote for clean water.
Advocating for Clean Water, Land Restoration, and Wildlife Conservation During Hill Day 2023
For the first time in two years, over 50 members of the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed met in-person with Members of Congress in Washington, DC to educate offices on key policy and funding priorities that support conservation and restoration in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Previously, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Coalition’s annual Hill Day was held virtually.

CDRW On the Road: A Community Conversation on the Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act
In the Upper Delaware River Region, the Coalition has strong connections to New York communities. The Delaware headwaters set the stage for the health and wellbeing of the entire watershed, and the Coalition has a proud history of advocating for New York State funding to make its way to the region, protecting our watershed and supporting Upper Delaware communities. In the recent past, the Coalition, and our New York partners, have celebrated significant funding allocations for the headwaters, including dedicated line-item funding in last year’s state budget.
CDRW on the Road: Pennsylvania Member Meet-up
Coalition partners in Pennsylvania have much to celebrate after a successful budget season in Harrisburg. As generational funding for clean water begins benefitting the Delaware River Watershed, and waterways statewide, Coalition members took the opportunity to celebrate our shared successes and connect with member organizations in the Commonwealth.
