For the first time in two years, over 50 members of the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed met in-person with Members of Congress in Washington, DC to educate offices on key policy and funding priorities that support conservation and restoration in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Previously, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Coalition’s annual Hill Day was held virtually.
Advocating for Clean Water, Land Preservation, and Wildlife Conservation During Hill Week 2022
Members of the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed met virtually with New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware’s Members of Congress and their offices March 8th - March 10th, 2022, as part of the Coalition’s annual Hill Week. Each year, the Coalition meets with Members of Congress from jurisdictions within the Delaware River Watershed to advocate for an array of environmental concerns- and despite COVID-19 making Hill Week virtual for the second year in a row, our focus remained the same - to protect and preserve the Delaware River Watershed. This year we met with 28 congressional offices, 72 advocates, and had 41 Coalition member organizations participate.
Focusing on Federal Clean Water Advocacy During Hill Week 2021
Every year the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed heads to Washington D.C. to educate Members of Congress about key policy and funding priorities that support conservation and restoration in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. While COVID-19 restricted travel to the Capitol this year, the Coalition adapted and transformed Hill Day into a virtual Hill Week. During the second week of March 2021, 71 participants from Coalition member organizations, including 12 constituents, took part in the virtual Hill Week. These participants met with 31 out of 32 congressional offices that represent the watershed.
