CDRW Hosts Capitol Hill Day Advocating for Delaware River Basin Restoration

WASHINGTON, DC –On March 12, The Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed (CDRW) met with all Congressional offices representing the Delaware River watershed to increase support for the Delaware River Basin Restoration Program Reauthorization Act, H.R. 1304, $17 million in appropriations for the Delaware River Basin Restoration Program, and full appropriations for the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

“Delaware River Basin is one of America's Great Waters, providing clean water, healthy habitat, and accessible outdoor recreation and public access,” said Grant LaRouche, Steering Committee Co-Chair, Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed. “The Delaware River Basin Restoration Program is a cornerstone of conservation, supporting projects that enhance water quality, restore habitats, and expand outdoor recreation opportunities. Reauthorizing this program will ensure continued investments in local communities, creating jobs, protecting fish and wildlife, and securing clean water for millions.”

Representatives Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) co-chair the Bipartisan Delaware River Watershed Caucus which focuses on the protection and restoration of the Delaware River Basin.

Coalition members and members of the House Delaware River Watershed Caucus also held a breakfast briefing alongside Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund grantees to showcase the success of the program.

The Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed is made up of more than 190 organizations working throughout the five-state Delaware River Watershed to protect and restore America's Founding Waterway.
