Stream Maintenance and Flood Intervention Workshop, Honesdale, PA

workshop.png

This one-day workshop is geared toward local municipalities and emergency flood response professionals. The aim is to give training on stream behavior and how to use basic stream assessments to design interventions that will work in cooperation with a watershed’s natural tendencies. Proactive planning strategies will result in a stream’s capacity to restore itself after a flood event and reduce the erosion and sedimentation that occur during repeated reconstruction efforts.

This workshop will include classroom-style presentations in the cafeteria of the Park Street Complex in Honesdale strengthened with a relevant, on-site stream demonstration on the Lackawaxen River. Be prepared to be outside for part of the day. Pre-registration is required and lunch will be provided. Parking is limited so carpooling is encouraged.

To register, email Colleen Campion at ccampion@waynecountypa.gov or call the
Wayne Conservation District.
