PRC’s Watershed Awareness/Rain Barrel Workshop raises awareness of watershed issues, demonstrates how to install a 55-gallon rain barrel, and introduces other rainwater harvesting options.
Rain barrels are a great way to conserve water, supplying non-chlorinated water for gardening by collecting and storing rain water from your roof through a connection to your downspout that would otherwise be lost to runoff and diverted to storm drains, streams and rivers. Rain barrels keep excess water out of the storm-water system thus alleviating some of the stormwater issues plaguing the region.
Discover how to harvest rainwater from your roof, store it in a barrel and use it in the landscape on March 30 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Learn about problems associated with stormwater runoff and techniques to reduce your contribution to watershed pollution. Course fee of $80 includes instruction plus a FreeGarden RAIN 55-gallon easy-to-install rain barrel. Individuals will register for a time to pick up rain barrels after completing online instruction. Pre-registration is required.
