Please join the UD Water Resources Center & Clean Water Alliance in an informative tour about the dangers of dams and the impacts they have on the natural environment!
Throughout the 20th century our country went “dam-crazy,” disturbing the natural flow of rivers across the country to our benefit and to the environment’s detriment. Now, they are reversing the trend. The tour will provide a 'behind the scenes' look at the removal techniques and engineering work of this complicated dam removal. The tour will also include a discussion of the community and environmental benefits of restoring the river as well as the complex process to embark on such a project. The dam removal is part of a continuing effort to bring back the American Shad, an iconic migratory fish of the Delaware River often referred to as, "the fish that fed our founding fathers."
