About the Scrub
Scrub: a strategic, organized cleanup initiative that targets a particular watershed, county, or region. A scrub is a way for people to take action together in one or more individual cleanup events over a period of time, for big impact. A scrub can last just one day or several months!
Why a Scrub?
Look, litter is everywhere... in our neighborhoods and our rivers, marshes, and bays. By 2050, scientists say there could be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Fortunately, with dedicated volunteers, this is a problem we can do something about! The 'scrub model' is a fun, effective way to mobilize people and neighborhoods, and get'er done!
Why South Jersey?
We know there are different interpretations of what "southern" New Jersey is, or if central New Jersey even exists (it does). This spring, our partners are gathering to represent Salem and Cumberland Counties. These Delaware Bayshore communities are particularly important because of their coastal rivers and marshes, and people motivated to work together on the issue of trash.
