United By Blue is gearing up to tackle an exciting and hugely impactful cleanup, and they need YOUR help!

Together with the City of Philadelphia, they are taking on a large-scale cleanup of a dumpsite along the Schuylkill River. This will be a multi-phase cleanup that will be ongoing throughout Fall 2018. By cleaning this site, we will be directly improving our riverside ecosystems and our drinking water, and beautifying our community. 

This cleanup will be broken out into 3 phases, with Phase 1 requiring volunteer support: that's where you come in! 

Phase 1 of this cleanup: we need to dive right in and get our hands dirty by removing dumped tires from the rest of the debris, so that they can be sent to recycling facilities. This phase must be completed before the rest of the cleanup can continue, so we need to get it done ASAP. Therefore, we are putting out a short notice call to volunteers for our last Philadelphia cleanup opportunity of 2018!

You will be asked to remove tires from the dumped debris and stack them in piles to be picked up for recycling. This will require the ability to lift between 25-50 lbs and/or roll tires about 20 yds. As a thank you for your volunteer service, you will receive a UBB stainless steel water bottle, a UBB bandanna and a 25% discount off of UBB stores/online. All cleanup supplies, snacks, and water will be provided.
